Drug and Alcohol Counselling
Drug and alcohol counselling can be a powerful tool in helping you understand your drug and alcohol use more deeply.
Maybe you're thinking you don't quite need rehab, but you definitley need someone to talk to and work through whats going on for you; thats where AOD (Alcohol and Other Drug) Counselling comes in. Drug and alcohol counselling can be an important first step in understanding more about yourself, your addiction and how to manage recovery sucessfully. It can help you manage unhelpful thinking patterns, recognise your triggers and understand your behaviours better. Counselling can also support you in deciding if you need more comprehensive help, such a rehab or out-patient programs.
At Rehab Connect, we partner with a leading drug and alcohol Psychologist, who is top of their field. Peter Harvey brings a wealth of knowlege and compassion to our team and has extensive expeirence helping people understand and overcome substance use issues.
My story
Peter Harvey
Registered Psychologist
My name is Peter. I’m here to help you navigate the areas of life that can sometimes be overwhelming or leave you feeling stuck. Trying to manage things on our own can be a struggle, but with help and support, we can find a way through. I believe the past informs the present, and it is deeply human to sometimes be caught in old patterns that interfere with our peace of mind and quality of life. For over a decade, I have worked in both private and public mental health and the addiction field, helping people meet challenges like substance dependence, relationship issues, trauma, and grief.
I have a depth of knowledge in the recovery movement and truly understand the hopelessness and helplessness of the self-defeating patterns that lead us to reach out for help. My goal is to help you deepen your understanding of who you really are, how you think and feel, and how to move forward with a more life-affirming relationship with yourself.
Seeing people create change in their lives and experience a greater sense of freedom is the reason I became a psychologist.
